It’s hard to believe that October is already here, and with it comes one of the busiest times of the year! As we get closer to Halloween and the end of October, 2016 will rapidly be coming to a close, and with it a litany of holidays, events, obligations, travel time, and yes…holiday shopping. The schedule will fill up quick, and the fuller it becomes the less time you’ll have, and with the loss of your time comes tried patience and frustration.

The key component of organization is time. Having an organized home or office means you’re freed up to be the best you, or to spend your time in ways that allow you to live your best life. An organized schedule means that your time is being used in an effective way to allow you to spend it on the things that matter most: with your friends, family or doing what brings you joy and happiness.

Since the holidays bring the season of joy, don’t waste your precious time and energy on frustration. Keep your schedule sane and organized to get the most out of the upcoming holidays by following these tips:

  • Fall is the second busiest season and one of the most common problems standing between you and an organized home is the ability to establish a routine. Think about your daily routine and then plan out ways to maximize your time and accomplish your chores efficiently.
  • Put systems in place to minimize the time and effort usually spent clearing clutter and running around the house trying to find misplaced objects.
  • Keep the family on the same page by synching up everyone’s cellphones.
  • Preach punctuality. Help ensure that you aren’t downstairs waiting to leave in the morning while your teen is still upstairs getting ready by ensuring all the clocks in the house keep the same time.
  • Keep a calendar in a common room like the kitchen to keep track of everyone’s important dates and appointments.
